Parallel images of women from the last 150 years, from Victorian to now express the idea that standards of female attractiveness haven't changed much, just the methods used to achieve and maintain it. Nevertheless, today's women show agency and strength whereas before they were more under the male gaze and their identity as “the weaker sex” was used as an asset in advertising.
